Rastus is my own horse. My best friend for sure. He is a 19 year old PB Arabian gelding. I got him when he was about
4 years old. In our show career together Rastus has performed very well in Hunter Pleasure, Show Hack, Dressage, English Equitation,
English Pleasure, Western Equitation, Wester Pleasure, and halter. We still do show the Arab circuit a little and still do
the open shows.
A few years ago we found that Rastus has a bone cyst in his stifle joint and a floating bone chip
around his pastern. With the treatment of a steroid shot every 6-8 months and feeding glucosamine these small issues do not
seem to ever stop Rastus from performing for me and bossing all of his paddock mates around.
Rastus was however showing
signs of stiffness and his gate was just not what it used to be.
I began massaging Rastus and WOW what a difference
it made. At 19 years old he still has that amazing extended trot he used to show me all the time. He moves so much better
through all of his gates. And he just seems much happier and more comfortable.
I have found massage to make such a
difference with Rastus and all of my horsey clients. I know Rastus is very happy to be the horse of an Equine Body Worker......
